Independence OS Clinic Messaging Program · Last updated: August 25, 2026
Program description
Independence OS operates two-way text messaging on behalf of participating medical clinics. When you opt in, your clinic can send you appointment reminders, appointment request confirmations, and prescription refill request status updates — and you can reply to ask the clinic questions. Your replies are answered by the clinic's assistant, or handed to clinic staff who continue the conversation with you directly. Everything sent under this program is informational and about your own care logistics; no marketing is ever sent. Messages may be sent in English or Spanish based on your preference.
Opt-in — how patients consent
Patients opt in through one of the three methods below, and messages are never sent before consent is given. The exact consent language used in each method is reproduced here.
Opting in is entirely voluntary. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of receiving care, booking or keeping an appointment, filling a prescription, registering as a patient, completing any form, or using any Independence OS or clinic service. Consent is asked as a standalone question, separately from anything a patient is required to do, and it is never bundled with any other agreement or signature. Declining changes nothing about the patient's care or their ability to use every clinic service, and a patient who opts in may withdraw at any time by replying STOP. Consent applies only to this program's informational clinic messages described above — never to marketing, and never to any other campaign.
Flow 1 — verbal consent during a phone call
When a patient calls a participating clinic, the clinic's staff member or phone assistant asks for consent before any text message is sent, using this script:
"Would you like to receive text messages from [Clinic Name] at this number? Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP anytime to stop, or HELP for help. Our privacy policy and terms are at independenceos.ai/terms. Do you agree to receive these messages?"
The question is asked on its own, and answering it is not required to complete the call or to receive any help the patient called about. Messages are sent only if the caller clearly answers yes. The consent — date, time, phone number, and scope — is recorded in the clinic's patient communication system. If the caller declines, no messages are sent, the number is recorded as declined, and the call continues normally.
Flow 2 — written consent, on a separate optional form
Patients may also opt in at the clinic front desk. This consent is collected on its own separate, clearly optional form, not as part of the required registration or intake paperwork. It has its own initials line; it is never covered by the signature on any other document, and no other form or agreement grants it. The patient can leave it blank or decline it and still complete registration, be seen, and use every clinic service. The checkbox is unchecked by default — the patient must actively check it to consent:
OPTIONAL — text message sign-up. You do not have to complete this form; leaving it blank will not affect your care or any service you receive.
Mobile number for text messages: ____________________ Initials: ________ Date: __________
This form is used only for text message sign-up. It is filed separately and collects nothing else.
Method 3 — by text message (START)
You can also text START or UNSTOP to your clinic's number to subscribe, or to re-subscribe after opting out. This is offered in the confirmation we send when you opt out ("Reply START to resubscribe"), and clinic staff can give you the number. As soon as we receive it, we send you a confirmation naming your clinic, stating that message frequency varies and that message and data rates may apply, and telling you to reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel.
There is no other way to be enrolled: no patient is ever added by a purchase, a booking, an account creation, a web form, a third party, or a purchased list.
Calling the clinic does not enrol anyone. Only an explicit yes to the question in Method 1, an actively checked box on the optional form in Method 2, or texting START yourself in Method 3, creates consent. A patient whose call was missed, abandoned, or never answered is not texted — we do not treat an inbound call, a voicemail, or any other interaction as consent to message.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies depending on your appointments and requests.
Fees
Message and data rates may apply. Charges are billed by your mobile carrier. Independence OS does not charge for these messages.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to cancel and stop receiving texts. After you send STOP, you will receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. No further messages will be sent unless you opt in again.
Help and support
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us at support@independenceos.ai. You can also contact your clinic directly.
Privacy
Your mobile number and messaging consent are used only to deliver this program. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy.
